Tell us a little about yourself
Your answers go to the Area Manager for your region.
In short: The East Coast Traffic Control employment questionnaire asks for your contact details, location, whether you can travel for work, which traffic control licences you hold and for how long, your transport, availability and work history, with an optional CV upload. It is reviewed against the needs of your nearest depot, and if it is in order and you hold a current licence, the local Area Manager reaches out.
Why we ask each question
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Your location | Routes your application to the nearest depot and its Area Manager. Be specific: town or suburb, not just the state. |
| Can you travel away for work? | Remote highway sealing, flood response and large projects need crews who can stay away. Saying yes opens up more work. |
| Do you have a current Traffic Controller licence? | The first thing we check. Without a current licence for your state we cannot place you on a site. |
| Which licences do you hold? | TC, TMI, TCR, IMP, PWZ and TMA each qualify you for different roles. TMI and IMP holders are needed across most depots. |
| How long have you held them? | Helps the Area Manager match you to jobs: a highway closure crew and a quiet utility job need different experience. |
| Own transport (Level 1)? | Crews often start before dawn at the depot or drive direct to regional sites. Reliable transport is part of being available. |
| When are you available? | Days, nights, weekends, immediately or from a date. Availability is what gets people called first. |
| Who have you worked for, and have you worked for ECTC before? | Past employers and previous ECTC work help us verify experience and pick up where we left off. |
| CV (optional) | PDF, Word or text. Useful but not required; the questionnaire answers are what the Area Manager reads first. |

Review
The application is checked against your nearest depot's current needs and the licence you have declared.
Area Manager contact
If the application is in order and you hold a current licence, the Area Manager for your region reaches out to talk about the work and verify your accreditation. If there is nothing running in your area, your details stay on file.
Tips for a strong application
Put your actual town in the location field so the form reaches the right depot. List every current accreditation, including TMA if you hold it. Be honest about availability; an applicant who can do nights and travel is worth more to a regional depot than one who overstates and then cannot. If you have worked for ECTC before, say when and where. And if you do not have a current licence yet, finish that first: the application will wait, the work will not.
Common questions
How long does the questionnaire take?
It is a dozen or so short questions plus an optional message and CV upload. The licence questions only expand if you answer yes to holding a current traffic controller licence, so applicants with a ticket see a few more fields than those without.
Do I have to upload a CV?
No. The CV field is optional and accepts PDF, Word (.doc or .docx) or plain text files. The Area Manager reads your questionnaire answers first, especially location, licences, availability and work history. A CV helps if you have relevant civil, rail or utilities experience to show.
Will someone call me after I apply?
If your application is in order and you hold a current licence, the Area Manager for your region reaches out to discuss the work and verify your accreditation. We do not promise a timeframe, because it depends on what is running in your area. If there is no work locally at the moment, your details are kept on file.
I applied before. Should I apply again?
Yes, if your details have changed: a new accreditation, a move to another region, or new availability. Say on the form that you have applied or worked for ECTC before, and when, so the Area Manager can link the applications.
