ECTC in New South Wales

ECTC came to New South Wales in late 2022 by taking on the assets and the team of a long-established traffic control business in Young. That gave the company local clients including Hilltops Council and Weddin Shire Council and a base in the South Western Slopes, and the business has since grown into the Central West and the Riverina with depots at Dubbo, Wagga Wagga and Tumbarumba. In 2025 ECTC launched on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW and opened a Mid North Coast depot at Coffs Harbour, hiring across Grafton, Armidale, Inverell, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour.

We hire locally wherever possible. NSW crews work for councils, Transport for NSW programs such as heavy patching, utility providers and civil contractors, and they are the first response when the region floods.

How to apply

  1. Complete the questionnaire

The form below is the same one used across ECTC. Enter your NSW town so it reaches the right depot, and select your NSW accreditations (TCR, IMP, PWZ, TMA).

  2. Review

We check the application against the depot's current work and that your SafeWork NSW card is current.

  3. Your Area Manager reaches out

If everything is in order, the Area Manager for your region contacts you to discuss the work, sight your accreditation and arrange induction. If nothing is running in your area, your details are kept for when it is.

What the work is like in regional NSW

Regional NSW work means distance. A council heavy patching program might run across a whole shire for weeks, a bridge job at Wallendbeen runs around rail possession weekends, and flood response means being on a cut road at any hour. The Riverina depots share crews on big jobs and emergencies. Winters are cold at dawn and summers are hot, and most sites are a drive from town, so your own reliable transport matters.

Pay is at or above the Building and Construction General On-site Award with penalty rates for nights, weekends and public holidays, and travel allowances apply on regional work. Controllers who hold IMP and PWZ accreditations, or who want to work towards them, are in demand across the NSW depots.

Common questions

Which NSW accreditation do I need to apply?

A current SafeWork NSW traffic control card for the role: Traffic Controller (TCR) to control traffic with a stop/slow bat, Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) to set out and supervise a scheme, or Prepare Work Zone Traffic Management Plans (PWZ) to design plans. All roles also need a White Card. Queensland TC and TMI tickets are not valid in NSW.

Where in NSW is ECTC hiring?

Across the six NSW regions: Young and the South Western Slopes, Wagga Wagga and the Riverina, Tumbarumba and the Snowy Valleys, Dubbo and the Central West, the Mid North Coast from Coffs Harbour to Grafton, Kempsey, Armidale and Inverell, and the Northern Rivers from the Gold Coast depot. Enter your town on the form and it reaches the right Area Manager.

Does ECTC run NSW traffic control courses?

No. ECTC is not a registered training organisation and does not deliver SafeWork NSW traffic control courses or issue cards. RTOs deliver the training and assessment. Once your accreditation is current, apply through the questionnaire and the Area Manager for your region will be in contact if the application is in order.

Will I be asked to travel?

Often, yes. Regional NSW jobs are spread across shires, and the Riverina depots share crews on large projects and flood response. The questionnaire asks whether you can travel away for work; answering yes puts you in line for remote highway, sealing and emergency jobs, which also attract travel allowances.

Need crews on site?

Send the job and your local Area Manager takes it from there, day or night.
