Cardno works in Mackay
In short: East Coast Traffic Control has worked with Cardno across central and northern Queensland for some time, mostly on test pit investigations carried out before major works are awarded. These short jobs give the client a clear look at our safety standards and turnaround time, and they give ECTC early insight into the projects coming up in the region.

What the work involves
Before a road or civil project goes to tender, engineering consultants investigate the ground. Test pits are dug in the road shoulder or verge to sample the pavement and subgrade, often at many points along a corridor, each one open for a few hours. Cardno's investigation crews need traffic control at each location so the excavator and the engineers can work beside live traffic.
ECTC's Mackay depot and neighbouring North Queensland depots have provided that traffic control for Cardno across central and northern Queensland for some time.
Why it matters
Test pits are small jobs with a big audience. The client sees exactly how a traffic crew sets up, how quickly it turns a request around and how it treats a job that will be finished by lunchtime. That is the basis on which they decide who to use when the major works are awarded.
The work also tells us what is coming. Knowing which corridors are being investigated prepares our depots to deliver the best possible outcome when the main contract starts.
The result
The feedback from Cardno has always been positive, and the relationship continues. For ECTC it is a reminder that reputation in traffic control is built one short job at a time.
